Weakly potent class I glucocorticoid. Used for systemic and topical application. It is stable at pH 3 to 6.5 and the standard dose in dermatological preparations is 0.25% to 0.5%. In water-containing preparations prednisolone is unstable and recrystallises into the hydrate (formation of long, needle-shaped crystals). Please note that the 100 mg version, which is marked accordingly in the Symbol column, is a reference substance for the identification of starting materials using the DAC alternative procedure.
